Green Collar Jobs: Investing in a Sustainable Future

On April 20, 2009 the LAWFC joined with Southern California Grantmakers and Liberty Hill’s Green LA Coalition to host of tour of green-collar job education, training and work programs in Los Angeles. Philanthropic leaders learned why LA is the leader in developing a range of green job development and placement programs.

Green Jobs Leadership Discussion

On January 14, 2009, United Way, the Los Angeles Workforce Funder Collaborative, and the Green LA Coalition brought together Green Jobs leaders from the Greater Los Angeles Region to share information about workforce development policy, legislative strategies and programs, and to provide the opportunity for utilizing and unifying Los Angeles based objectives and efforts.

Forward focused on the opportunities and strategies to capture imminent federal and state investment for Green jobs in LA, the group also discussed the potential for growth - with policy consensus, multi-agency coordination, and support from the philanthropic sector.
